ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND INNOVATION AS A VALUE

Preamble:

In today's dynamically and rapidly changing world of business, organisations seek to achieve competitive edge for growth through fostering a spirit of entrepreneurship among their employees. This is reflected in an enabling atmosphere for creativity, innovation and new venture creation. Employees are often required and motivated to appreciate and internalise this spirit of entrepreneurship in order to achieve business results.

While senior managerial personnel are expected to be entrepreneurial visionaries, the middle level managers often emerge as "intrapreneurs", being the project champions for implementing desired change strategies within the organisation.

At TAPMI:

At TAPMI, students are encouraged and facilitated to develop and demonstrate their creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial character in several co-curricular activities. The seed of entrepreneurship is sown during their stay in the campus. The required competencies for an entrepreneurial personality, such as risk-taking, ability to "see the big picture", and assumption of responsibility and accountability, are developed. 

Many of the sub-groups and committees of the Students' Forum are fora for students to develop and demonstrate their spirit of entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation. Each year, students have been observed to be able to improve upon the co-curricular performance of the earlier batch.

As wealth creators, many of our alumni have been motivated to choose entrepreneurship as their career options at appropriate stages in their lives. They have started their own ventures and proved themselves as successful entrepreneurs.

Recognising the reality that a majority of established businesses in India are family-owned or family-managed, courses relating to management of family business have been offered at TAPMI.

TAPMI students thus would be able to understand and adjust to the family business dynamics and perform well when employed in family owned large business houses.
