Hyderabad Alumni Meet - 2004

The alumni meet at Hyderabad was held at the Chancery in Hotel Green Park on 31st January 2004. The meet was well attended by batches starting from the first batch (1984-86). Prof. Balasubramanian in his address gave an overview of the recent developments at TAPMI relating to industry interface activities followed by presentation on TAPMI and brand video show which was appreciated by the alumni. Many senior alumni could not identify the new landmarks at TAPMI and Manipal and were amazed at changes in the past 2 decades. 

Our Director traced the changes made in various facets of TAPMI starting from curriculum rigour to addition of infrastructure that brought TAPMI on par with leading management institutes in the country. He urged the alumni to contribute to intellectual wealth of TAPMI by sharing their industry experiences. Mudra Communication representatives made a brief presentation on their partnership for brand building of TAPMI. 

This meet triggered a lot of nostalgic memories of alumni - both of senior and recent batches. The memory trips went on till late night. The meeting ended with a brief vote of thanks followed by of informal discussions on various dimensions during dinner. 

The Hyderabad meet marks the end of seeding alumni activities. We covered Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi - in the past one year. With this first round of alumni meets (totally sponsored by TAPMI), a stage has been set for greater alumni interaction. We propose to register a TAPMI alumni association in Manipal and have chapters opened in these cities to cater to activities that are largely alumni initiated from now on with the active involvement of the institute. We plan to also initiate future meets that would be specific agenda-driven rather than 'get together' kind of meetings - the major intention for the seeding activity done till now.
